Hey Friends!

Nice to Meet You!

Hey Friends! I’m Amanda, a retired elementary school teacher recently transformed into a stay-at-home Mimi with a flair for creativity. I love children, pets, and the great outdoors, with my work reflecting my passion in these areas. Join me on my adventure as I create books that encourage deep book-bonding interaction between children and their caregivers as they tackle common childhood fears and anxieties while becoming brave and confident along the way.

I studied and graduated from Georgia College and State University with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. My first job out of college was teaching students with learning disabilities, usually in reading. This experience is where my passion for teaching children to read was born. I taught for four years, then started a family of my own. After raising my three children at home for nine years, I went back to work to continue teaching children how to read for seventeen more years. In that time, I also earned my master's degree in learning disabilities and went on to earn my specialist degree in learning disabilities soon after. Along the way I discovered I wanted to help as many children learn to read as I could, so they would have a fair chance at life. Even being retired and a stay-at-home Mimi, that desire still runs strong in me. In writing children’s books that encourage children to be brave in the face of their common childhood fears, I hope to continue helping children to experience the world through a love of reading.

Who is Cookie?

Cookie is a rescued mixed breed dog who joined our family nine years ago. She is a happy dog who loves to snuggle, to play with her doggie sisters, and to eat. We named her Cookie because she has black and white fur with a pattern like an Oreo cookie. Cookie is always happy and never meets a stranger, but she is VERY afraid of thunder and the dark. Even so, she brings a lot of joy and laughter to our home. I hope she can spread happiness to your home as well by helping your child become brave by overcoming their fears.

My Books

Do you have a little person afraid of thunder?

Cookie is afraid of thunder! Her mom and dad tell her ways that she can be brave during storms. She tries them out, and soon she realizes that being brave actually works! I bet your little person will become brave if they try them too...

Do you have a little person afraid of the dark?

The dark can be very scary! Cookie is afraid of the dark, too! Thankfully she remembers what her mom and dad tell her about how to be brave. She gives it a try and it worked!!

Giving Back

It is estimated that 61% of children from low-income families have little to no access to books in their home and therefore are more likely to begin school up to 2 years behind their peers. To help fulfill my lifetime goal of bringing reading to as many children as possible, for every book of mine you buy, I will donate a stack of gently used, age- appropriate books to an underprivileged child in my area. Thank you in advance for your part in contributing to the future of these children.
